Flip 7 Rules Questions: 12 Answers for Common Disputes
The duplicate-card questions, the two Second Chances problem, and what happens when the deck runs out.
Flip 7 has a two-minute rules explanation and a surprisingly long tail of
edge cases. These are the twelve that come up most often, answered plainly.

Quick Answer
Only duplicate number cards bust you, only number cards count toward the seven, and ×2 doubles nothing except your number cards. Most disputes are one of those three.
1
What actually counts as a duplicate?
Only a number card that matches a number card already in front of you. Modifiers and action cards are never duplicates, no matter how many of them you collect.
2
Do modifier cards count toward Flip 7?
No. Only number cards count toward the seven you need. A player with nine cards in front of them might only be four numbers deep.
3
Can I give an action card to myself?
Yes. You are always a legal target for Freeze, Flip Three and Second Chance, and taking a Freeze yourself to bank a strong row is a genuine tactic.
4
What if I'm dealt a second Second Chance?
You can never hold two. Give the new one to another player still in the round who doesn't have one. If every remaining player already has one, discard it.
5
Does ×2 double my + modifiers too?
No. The ×2 card doubles the total of your number cards only. Your + modifiers are added afterwards at face value.
6
Is the 15-point Flip 7 bonus doubled by ×2?
No. The bonus is added last and is never multiplied. With a ×2 and a Flip 7, double your numbers, add your modifiers, then add 15.
7
What happens when the deck runs out mid-round?
Shuffle the discard pile to form a new deck and carry on. Cards sitting in front of players still in the round stay where they are — they're not part of the discard pile yet.
8
If someone hits Flip 7, does everyone else score zero?
No. The round ends immediately, but every player who hasn't busted scores their row exactly as normal. Only the player who hit Flip 7 gets the extra 15.
9
Do I bust if I'm dealt two Freeze cards in a round?
No. Action cards can never bust you. Each one resolves on its own when it's dealt.
10
What if a Flip Three deals me another Flip Three?
The new one resolves as normal, then the remaining flips from the first one continue. It stacks, and it's usually fatal.
11
Can I stay before taking any cards?
Staying is available on your turn, but it banks only what's already in front of you — so staying on an empty or nearly empty row scores you almost nothing. There's rarely a reason to do it.
12
Does the game stop the second someone reaches 200?
No. Finish the round you're in. Once the round is scored, the highest cumulative total wins — and if two players are both over 200, the bigger number takes it.
