Best Wingspan Expansions: European, Oceania, or Asia?
Each expansion changes the game differently. Here's which to grab first.
Wingspan has three major expansions, each adding birds from a different continent
along with new mechanics. They all combine with each other and the base game,
but they feel very different to play.

Quick Answer
Oceania is the best first expansion â it improves the base game's weakest points without adding complexity. European is a close second.

Oceania Expansion
81 new birds from Australia & New Zealand
New Player MatsNectar ResourceEnd-of-Game Nectar Scoring
The new player mats are the headline feature â they replace the originals and are
strictly better designed. Nectar is a wild food that works everywhere but gets
scored at end of game, adding a new strategic dimension. The Oceania birds have
refreshed powers that make every habitat row feel more active.

European Expansion
81 new birds from Europe
End-of-Round PowersNew Bonus Cards
Adds round-end triggered powers (a new timing category) and more variety to the
bird card pool. Feels like "more Wingspan" in the best way â not a revolution,
but a solid expansion of what's already great. The European birds have some of
the most beautifully illustrated cards in the entire game.

Asia Expansion
90 new birds from Asia + new game modes
Duet Mode (2P)Flock Mode (6â7P)New Board
The most ambitious expansion. Duet mode gives you a dedicated 2-player experience
on a shared map â it's almost a different game and it's excellent. Flock mode lets
you play with up to 7 people. The Asia birds interact with the new board in unique ways.
